read
a little about me...
I started weight and cardiovascular training
8 years ago at Vic Tanny's in Michigan. I never had anyone
show me the machines so I didn't know proper execution. At
this time I was a size 9-10 and although I was fairly thin,
I had no definition at all. I mainly did aerobics and step
class, played around with the weights best I knew how, and
ran the track.
Down the line I met a trainer he showed me the ropes. Everything
from the correct way to train to nutritional guidelines to
follow to achieve my goals. I wanted to lean out and possibly
compete in Physique/Figure competitions.
It wasn't long before I was able to bring my weight down and
I achieved a size 5/6 which I am at currently. The way in
which I got to this point as far as adding muscle and toning
up depended greatly on consistency more than anything. I trained
4-5 days a week with weights. In addition, I made sure I regularly
got my cardio in. It not only helped my shed weight, but keeps
my heart healthy. Another big aspect of reaching my goals
was learning proper nutrition. Eating the right foods to fuel
my body and getting in enough meals made all the difference.
And certainly an important aspect was learning the right supplements
to take. I am a regular user of fat burners they raises my
metabolic rate and gives my energy levels a needed boost.
I also use Whey protein daily to help feed and maintain my
muscle along with a whole bunch of vitamins!
I finally got up the courage to step on stage in my first
Physique competition. It was the Designer Body show in Maui,
HI in June of 2001. I took first place against 26 other girls.
It was an incredible feeling! it only got better when I received
another title taking first in the Designer Body show in Oahu,
HI. Little did I know that these contests would open up so
many doors for me. I've since been featured in several bodybuilding/fitness
magazines including: MuscleMag, IronMan Magazine, Muscle &
Fitness, American Curves, Natural Muscle, Planet Muscle to
name a few.
I then moved to California and jumped right on stage in an
attempt to introduce myself to the NPC judges. I won the NPC
Central Valley show and then took second place at the NPC
San Jose competition. I am now very proud to be able to say
that I am a Nationally qualified figure competitor. Next,
I competed in the Ironman Magazine Naturally show and received
first place and overall. In May I'll compete in the NPC California.
That will be my biggest competiton to date. I've been also
preparing my body to hit the stage at the Nationals in August
of 2003 in New York.
I was sponsored by Twin Lab for their National advertising
campaign for Diet Fuel for 2003. My first appearance was at
the Olympia in Vegas, to hand out samples at their booth.
There I competed in Weider's first ever Ms. Muscle Beach competition
and took first place. My next appearance was at the GNC Show
of Strength in New Orleans. Next I continued on to the Arnold
Classic. It's wonderful to be able to now be a part of the
expo, as years ago I was just a visitor. I've got to meet
so many people who I've looked up to and who have inspired
me and continue to inspire me til this day!
Other than fitness modeling and maintaining my website, I
was previously a personal trainer at Gold's Gym in Cali. I
enjoyed teaching my clients about all of the aspects of living
a healthy lifestyle. I hoped to set a good example and especially
teach them how to reach their individualized personal fitness
goals. I shared my knowledge in hopes of changing their old
routines into constructive ones so that they can be healthier
and happier. And once they are on their own, I hope they leave
me with confidence and a new way of looking at keeping fit.
My fulfillment comes when they see the results they never
thought were possible and smile knowing that with a little
hard work, they got there.
I have big aspirations and won't let anything get in my way.
I've learned that with focus and a little guidance you can
learn to change your body and achieve your personal fitness
goals and beyond.
My newest adventure is a passion of
mine, photography! I've studied at the Univ. of Hawaii awhile
back and now am finally pursuing my dream. My goal is to turn
professional. I'm shooting alot of fitness people I've known
thru my time in the industry so my portfolio will really be
great to start off with! I feel blessed and thank each and
every one for allowing me the opportunity to show them what
I can do behind the lens creatively!
I hope you've enjoyed learning a little bit more about me!
I'll have plenty more exciting things to share with you in
the near future...this is just the beginning! Read all about
my everyday life in my journal inside my members section!
